Do you enjoy entertaining? Think you have something fun or interesting to bring to the library system? The time has come to start thinking about applying for the Pioneer Library System Presenters' Showcase. Please fill out the online application before Tuesday, Sept. 30, to present at the showcases.

What are showcase attendees looking for?
 
The PLS 2015 childrens and teen summer touring programs have been selected. The adult presenters for 2015 have not been selected. We will be looking for adult programs for 2015 to tour the library system as well as programs to complete individual branch schedules for all age groups. A dominant goal for the showcase is to select presenters for the 2016 children, teen, and adults tours.

The Pioneer Library System (PLS) Presenters’ Showcase is designed to introduce performers to the library staff who book outside performers for library events held throughout the year. The annual Showcase provides an audition-like opportunity for selected performers who are developing library programs and are able to present public library programs within a nonprofit’s budget.

The world’s most popular Super Hero turns 75. Also known as the Dark Knight and Caped Crusader, Batman first appeared in the comic book Detective Comics #27 on March 30, 1939, featuring artwork by Bob Kane and scripted by Bill Finger.

In addition to the popular comic books, he’s starred in billion-dollar blockbuster movies, TV series, and video games. To mark the anniversary, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Entertainment have plans for a year-long celebration, which includes a new commemorative 75th anniversary Batman logo and new Batman titles and products. “Batman Day” is Wednesday, July 23.

Born in July 1856, Nikola Tesla was a brilliant student in his home country. After coming to America, the Serbian-American worked with Thomas Edison before starting his own projects. Although famous for creating the AC current and battling the current war with Edison, Tesla was the creator of many successful inventions and patents. Many of these inventions are still being used and improved on today. This July you can do your own Tesla reading and research and discover the man behind the inventions.
