The First Tortilla, written by Rudolfo Anaya, will be the focus of a series of children’s programs at the Moore Public Library that center around a national program called The Little Read. The first exciting opportunity for sharing The First Tortilla is a book discussion scheduled for Monday, March 31 at 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the Story-Time room of the library. Children ages 9-12 are invited to enjoy the book along with games and refreshments. Registration begins March 1 by calling the Children's Desk 793-4347, and parents are welcome.
‘The Big and Little Reads’ are initiatives of the National Endowment for the Arts and part of a drive to increase reading for enjoyment among American citizens and families. The two “Read” programs, designed to complement each other, aim to provide citizens with the opportunity to read and discuss a single book within their own communities, and to promote shared reading between parents and children. This year the author, Rudolfo Anaya, wrote both books selected.
