Award-winning children’s author Darleen Bailey Beard brings stories, fun facts and more to the Purcell Public Library’s “Make Like a Tree and Leaf” program, at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the library, 919 N. Ninth St.
She is the author of the Sequoyah-nominated book “Annie Glover is NOT a Tree Lover,” and will share some of the facts she learned about Oklahoma leaves while researching the book. She’ll also share some leaf and tree poems before children at the program will choose their own real-life leaf and write a poem from the leaf’s point of view.
Bailey Beard also will bring several autographed books to give out as door prizes.
This program is for ages 8 to 12, and at the same time the library will host an activity for younger children titled “Fizz Boom Movement,” a creative movement program in which they’ll learn activities that they can do later at home as well.
For more information on either program, visit the library or call 527-5546.
