Quilter Offers Art Incentive to Young Writers

Image from Library of Congress American Memory ProjectNewcastle quilter Joyce Stotler is interested in stories. She is inviting children to write short stories inspired by one of her quilted wall hangings on display at the Newcastle Public Library, 705 NW 10th. The young authors of the winning stories will be awarded their own Joyce Stotler quilt.

Children ages 5 to 11 years and Teens 12 to 16 years may enter the Storybook Quilt Contest. Stories written about the displayed quilted art will be accepted at the library Monday, February 11, through Friday, March 17. Entry forms are available at the library. Winners in each age group will be announced Friday, March 21.

Stotler is a long time Newcastle customer and frequent fund raiser for the Newcastle Public Library. She is also a former retired military officer, and a member and former officer of the Newcastle Nighttime Needlers Quilt Guild, as well as a member and former officer of the Central Oklahoma Quilt Guild.
