New Year Resolutions for Readers

Frequently Asked Questions - Reader Services

Ink well pen tip2010 is here and with it comes a whole lot of New Year Resolutions, that we may or may not keep because they require a change in routine. Well, what about making some New Year Resolutions that are easier to keep because they can be incorporated into an existing routine - something like, A Reader's Resolutions?

Here some reader resolutions that we've come up with and you can visit our facebook page to add some of your own!

In 2010, I resolve (in no particular order):

  • To better organize my personal library;
  • To read a book which has won an award (like a Pulitzer, Newbery, Printz, Sequoyah, Hugo or many more);
  • To read or listen to a classic novel that was recommended by a teacher (a long time ago);
  • To read one author in 5 different genres;
  • To read at least one "grown-up book" for every three books I read to my child(ren);
  • To read one book of nonfiction or fiction (depending on which you don't read);
  • To keep a journal of the books I read and review them for other readers in the library catalog;
  • To join a book discussion group and invite my friends to join me (the library has kits for Children, Teen, Adult & Business groups!);
  • To put down a book I don't enjoy - life is too short for bad literature;
  • To suggest a book for the library to purchase;
  • To compare a book to it's movie version and see which is really better.
