Book Review
Mimus
written by Lilli Thal
reveiwed by Mark H.
If you like realistic, action oriented medieval pieces, you'd should really like this book. If you get a particularly sly smile on your face at the idea of jesters, then you should love this book.
Imagine if your father's greatest enemy, a neighboring king, enslaved you and made you the apprentice of a mean-spirited jester. The only thing keeping you alive is the malice-filled mirth the king takes out of your suffering. The jester, Mimus, is an amazing character. He really makes the book…not that he is necessarily heroic, or, rather, even a good person, but he is a great character.
This is definitely one of the better written teen books. The world is realistic, the characters go through believable emotional stress, the adventure is tense, and the prince is a character you can root for. A really good read for medieval-themed fans.
