PICTURE IT @ YOUR LIBRARY

Libraries and schools in Oklahoma will be celebrating Teen Read Month in October.

This year's theme is Picture It @ Your Library, which is all about reading graphic novels/illustrated materials, seeking creative books, and imagining the world through literature. To celebrate, the Pioneer Library System is offering special programs for teens this month.

PHOTO CONTEST

The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is holding the 2011 Teen Read Week Photo Contest.

Teens 13-18 years old need to create a photo representing their favorite book, upload it to Flickr with the tag "TRWcontest11," and submit the entry form by October 31, 2011.

Five finalists will win gift bags with signed books. One grand prize winner will receive an e-reader pre-loaded with teen titles, courtesy of Penguin Books. The contest will be judged by Jay Asher, author and 2011 Teen Read Week spokesperson. Read the official rules and submission process here.
