Dig deep with Summer Reading Program offerings in Moore

porcupineThe Moore Public Library has something for all ages in its Summer Reading Program schedule in the coming days.

Children and Families

10 a.m. Saturday, June 15 – “It’s a Brass Family Affair,” featuring the music of quintet Boulevard Brass, performing songs and showing off how their brass instruments work. The program is for all ages and registration is not required.

2 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 – Dive In Dig It concert, featuring Stephen Fite. He has performed for 30 years, with tunes geared to ages 3 to 7 but fun for all.


2 p.m. Monday, June 17 – Steampunk Style, jewelry making basics presented by local artist Kiona Millirons. Registration is required and the program currently has a waiting list.


6:30 p.m. Friday, June 14 – Award-winning author Rilla Askew will speak about her newest book “Kind of Kin” and also about her past works and writing in general. Askew was the 2011 recipient of the Oklahoma Center for the Book’s Arrell Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award, given annually for outstanding contribution to literature by an Oklahoma author. She has two other novels that have earned Oklahoma Book Awards, and her first novel “The Mercy Seat” was a PEN/Faulkner Award nominee.

6:30 p.m. Monday, June 17 – Break New Ground with Genealogy, presented by Pioneer Library System Local History and Genealogy Resources Librarian Kathryn Ramsay. She will share tips on new websites and other resources to dig up facts on family history.
