Newcastle's Teen Cyber Space group talking magazines

The Newcastle Public Library’s monthly Teen Cyber Space gathering in November takes a look at the library’s online magazine collection and many good options for teens. The program starts at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the library, 705 NW 10th St.

They’ll get an introduction to Zinio, the library’s service for downloading magazines. Describing itself as “The World’s Largest Newsstand,” Zinio originally was founded in 2001 and provides access to about 6,000 magazines in 30 languages to more than 150 countries worldwide. The Zinio for Libraries service is available in more than 1,400 public libraries and library systems.

Newcastle invites children for Thanksgiving craft

Celebrate falling leaves, giving thanks and even turkeys at the Newcastle Public Library children’s program “It’s Thanksgiving” at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to make and take home a Thanksgiving-themed craft.

Therapy dogs to greet young readers in Newcastle

The Newcastle Public Library’s popular therapy dog reading program resumes in November with four dog friends coming to the library to help young readers.

The schedule and dogs that will be at the library are:

1:30 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 9, 16, 23 and 30 – with Stone;

Newcastle welcomes youngsters for its Wednesday morning story times

Wednesday mornings are all about story time at the Newcastle Public Library, with upcoming preschool story time events set for 11 a.m. each Wednesday the library is open through the end of 2014.

The morning features themed stories, songs, rhymes, activities and more, geared to preschool-age children.
