Newcastle talking bears at story time

The Newcastle Public Library is making story time all about bears in its upcoming story time, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the library, 705 NW 10th St.

The program is for children ages 1-5, and will feature stories and crafts that look at the lives of all types of bears.

Children can get creative as block builders with Newcastle program

The Newcastle Public Library is giving children a chance to show their creativity through building, at its “Create with Blocks” program at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the library, 705 NW 10th St.

The program is for elementary school or middle school age children, who will be able to use a variety of donated interlocking building blocks to make a creation and share their good ideas with each other.

Newcastle wrapping up Summer Reading with an afternoon of experiments and awards

The Newcastle Public Library invites local children to celebrate their Summer Reading success with the library, at its finale event “Eureka! I Got it!” The fun starts at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the library, 705 NW 10th St.

Activities are primarily geared to ages 6 to 11 and include a variety of science experiments. Children also can bring their reading goal forms to the library and receive their award for a great summer of keeping up with their reading.

Newcastle children now have twice the chance for therapy dog reading days

The Newcastle Public Library’s popular therapy dog reading program now has double the opportunity for young readers to spend time reading to a furry friend.

Ages 4 to 13 are invited to "Share a Story with Maggie" starting at 10 a.m. on each Tuesday in July, at the library, 705 NW 10th St. Dates are July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29,

And now the library has a new dog, Riley, who will be at the library beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursdays in July, on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st.
