The Friends of the Norman Library has scheduled its annual Better Book Sale for May 3-5, in the Lowry Room of the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave. Admission is free, but hours vary by day of the sale.
The sale opens at 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, and continues until 9 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday hours are 1-5 p.m. Sunday, all remaining items will be discounted 50 percent.
“Better Books” are those especially selected for reader interest, appearance, and condition. Shoppers may find first editions, hard-to-find out-of-print titles, and an occasional rare book. Browsers will find large coffee table volumes along with books relating to Oklahoma, western Americana, Native Americans, American literature, and many University of Oklahoma Press titles. This year’s offerings include an excellent selection of history, and military history. Children’s books and vintage magazines will also be available.
While some may be priced higher, buyers will find most books are in the $2 to $5 range.
The Norman Public Library will benefit from the proceeds of the sale. Buyers also may make cash donations and join the Friends of the Norman Public Library at the check-out desk.
