Shawnee welcomes teen author trio for discussion

Teen authors

Readers and fans of the mystery, romance and paranormal fiction genres are invited to the Shawnee Middle School to hear from a trio of talented authors.

Tessa Gratton, Sonia Gensler and Tara Hudson will share their stories and talk about novels each has published in 2013, in a panel discussion at the middle school at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Non-students interested in attending should check with the school about the visitor policy prior to coming to the presentation.

Gensler, an Oklahoma resident, was the 2012 winner of the Oklahoma Book Award for Young Adult Fiction for The Revenant, a book also selected for the 2014 Intermediate Sequoyah Masterlist. Her second novel The Dark Between was released in August.

Gratton lived throughout the country growing up before settling in Kansas and getting into writing. She has published several novels, most recently The Lost Sun in June.

Hudson, an Oklahoma native, had her latest work Elegy also published in June. It is the conclusion of the Hereafter trilogy, her first published novels.

“I love visiting middle schools, high schools, universities and libraries,” Gensler said. “There’s nothing better than chatting with readers and writers of all ages.”

Their work is geared to teens but also appeals to many adults in combining the dark, supernatural and mysterious into stories for a growing base of fans. Teens and adults are invited to hear their presentation.

The authors’ appearance is part of a tour of Pioneer Library System facilities and several schools in late September.
