Keep Reading in November!

 HhhEhER

Consider the following choices for a good read during the month of November.

book ajcket for Mad RiverMad River  by John Sandford

I am a big fan of John Sandford; I like the characters because in addition to being smart, their conversation is witty and tongue-in-cheek.  However, the Virgil Flowers character is my favorite, and MAD RIVER, the latest in this series, is right on target.  Flowers is the son of a preacher, has been divorced three times, wears old Classic band t-shirts, and has a strict sense of right and wrong.  This time his sense of morality is challenged by three teens on a killing spree across Minnesota.  The chase is littered with dead bodies, and Flowers is just a step behind.

book jacket for To Heaven and BackTo Heaven and Back by Mary C. Neal, M.D..

A true story, Dr. Neal takes the reader on a journey through death, on to heaven, and returning to her body as a result of drowning in a kayak accident.  I found her narrative thoughtful and believable.  It’s a one-afternoon read that is certainly thought provoking.

book jacket for Will Grayson, Will GraysonWill Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

What are the chances of meeting someone with your name?  That’s what happens in this teen novel on the 2013 Sequoyah list.  When these two very different teens come together, it’s to present the reader with two very different trips through high school.  Using mature themes, the two authors provide a very clear truth of life.  I didn't’t like it very much to begin with, but I’m so glad I stayed with it.
