Shawnee Public Library
As a customer of the Shawnee Public Library, you have access to information and entertainment in a variety of formats. The library staff welcome you and are ready to assist you in finding the answer to your question or a new book by a favorite author, learning to use a database or navigating the Internet, or copying or faxing documents.
Your hometown library is a busy place with programs and events scheduled throughout the year, such as Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults, monthly book discussions, computer training sessions, craft programs, pre-school story times, and author visits. Library staff members also do outreach programs in senior citizen centers and assisted and independent living senior centers.
Recent special additions to the Shawnee Library include laptop computers for training and a new, “state-of-the-art” digital microfilm reader-printer, for use with census and local newspaper microfilm available at the library.
The Shawnee Library is proud of our position as a member of our community, and welcome many organizations and other groups each year to our community rooms. Shawnee Library staff members are also active in the community through Leadership Shawnee, the Chamber of Commerce, “Success by Six”, the Shawnee News-Star Advisory Board, Downtown Shawnee, and many other organizations. The library is also proud that Shawnee hosts the biennial Red Dirt Book Festival, which brings readers and writers from across the nation to Pottawatomie County.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to the Shawnee Library!
