February 2012

In February, help your hometown library win a bear, attend one of our exciting events, try out our new catalog, or grab a family member and enter the Big Read essay contest for a chance to eat brunch with "Joy Luck Club" author Amy Tan!

Hello Visitor,

JSYK Just Right

Our Just Right event is inspired by “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” As Goldilocks says, we want to make sure our libraries are “just right” for you! And like Goldilocks, we have three bears—teddy bears, that is—in small, medium, and large sizes.

From February 13 through March 21, you will have the opportunity to complete a brief, regular, or in-depth customer survey online. The three libraries whose customers complete the most surveys by the end of the contest period will each win a soft, cuddly giant teddy bear for their Children’s Departments!

How can you help your library win a bear? It’s so easy! You can take the survey on your computer at justsoyouknow.us/justright or, if you have a smartphone, find it by scanning one of the QR codes on our Just Right posters and buttons.

Join us in making your hometown libraries Just Right!

Enter the Big Read Essay Contest

In celebration of this year's Big Read title, Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club, Pioneer Library System is hosting a multi-generational, collaborative, family-themed essay contest. Essays should focus on the multi-generational perceptions of a single family experience, such as a holiday, conflict, big event, or rite of passage. Entries may be between 1000-5000 words and should be written by 1-3 authors from different points of view. Winners will receive a complimentary ticket to the PLS Foundation brunch with Amy Tan on Saturday, April 28. Interested? Visit the essay contest website for full rules and sample essays.
