During the month of March, PLS libraries are joining other Oklahoma libraries to celebrate Teen Tech Month by offering special programs and events. This year's theme is Geek Out @ your library, encouraging teens to take advantage of the many technologies available to them, free of charge, at their libraries.

Mar. 5- Apr. 13 - 16th Annual Poetry Writing Contest - Open to middle & high school students and adults. Entry forms available at the library. Writers may enter up to 3 poems. Deadline is April 13 @ 6 p.m. Winners announced at the Poetry Celebration on April 26.

Mar. 13 @ 4 p.m. - Teen Book Club will discuss The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Refreshments provided.

Mar. 20 @ 2 p.m. - Rockin' Bugs & Herb Pot - Make ladybugs out of rocks and herb gardens out of tin cans! Register online or by calling 598-5955. Children ages 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

Mar. 22 @ 2 p.m. - Family Day at the Movies - A free afternoon movie during Spring break. Popcorn provided.

Mar. 23 @ 12 p.m. - Gaming @ Your Library - Play your favorite board and video games.

Mar. 27 @ 4 p.m. - Books vs. Movies - Watch the movie and talk about differences between the Thor graphic novels and movie. Refreshments provided.

Vote today for your favorite book on the 2012 Sequoyah book list! All students in 3rd - 12th grade are eligible. If you have read at least 3 titles from the Sequoyah book list, you can vote for your favorite book.

Fill out the Sequoyah voting ballot and choose your favorite book. Voting ends March 13th. Winners will be announced in April.

Hello! My name is Kirsten. I am going to be the Teen Librarian at the new Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library.

We have some great programs coming up after our opening, March 1st! They include Geek Jeopardy on March 7th at 6 p.m., a release party for the Hunger Games movie on March 23rd at 4 p.m., and a Decorate Your Poem program April 19th at 6 p.m.
