April is National Poetry Month. First celebrated in 1996, it works to bring about awareness & appreciation for poetry.

If you want to listen, read or participate in writing poetry - your hometown libraries offer several avenues to stretch your poetic prowess.

National Library Week April 11 - 17

 
This week communities across the country celebrate National Library Week. It is a time to reflect upon the contribution libraries, librarians & library workers make to their communities every day. All month long we want to hear your thoughts on your hometown library & the contribution it makes.

Please take the time and fill out our Customer Satisfaction Survey. Your comments help us determine programming, services & material purchases for the future.

Drop Everything & Read - April 12

 
April 12 is author Beverly Cleary's birthday and National D.E.A.R. Day. It is a special reading celebration to remind and encourage families to make reading together on a daily basis a family priority. So help us celebrate by sharing your photos & or short videos of family & friends dropping everything & reading.

You can share your photos on PLS DEAR Flickr Group www.flickr.com/groups/plsdear/ or by adding them to our Facebook page.
 
 

National Volunteer Appreciation Week April 18-24

 
This last year more than 400 volunteers gave 18,412 hours of their lives to their hometown libraries. That’s 9.2 full time employees based on 40 hours a week for 50 weeks.
Our volunteers have donated $298,103.23 worth of their time this year.

Woman behind book The Cleveland, McClain & Pottawatomie County Literacy Services provide free, confidential assistance to adults who want to improve their English, develop their reading & writing skills, or work on promoting reading as regular family activity. You can help these learners by becoming a volunteer tutor.

Big Read Finale - April 22

 
Join us April 22, at the Warren Theater in Moore, for a special showing of the classic film The Maltese Falcon.

The movie starts at 7:00pm on the 22nd.
Tickets may be picked up at any of the hometown libraries beginning April 12th.

Help bring the 1930’s alive by dressing in period clothing for the showing.
