Popular Books of 2013

After consulting The New York Times' Best Sellers List, Amazon's Top 100 Editor's Picks, and Goodreads' Most Popular Books of 2013, we've come up with a short list of the most common popular books. Here are the top five books in no particular order.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

A young boy in New York City, Theo Decker, miraculously survives an accident that takes the life of his mother. Alone and abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by a friend's family and struggles to make sense of his new life. In the years that follow, he becomes entranced by one of the few things that reminds him of his mother: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the art underworld. 'The Goldfinch' is a story of loss and obsession, survival and self-invention, and the enormous power of art.

Food for Fines 2013 Results

This November, library patrons brought cans, bags, and boxes of non-perishable food items to their hometown Pioneer Library. which were donated to various organizations, such as Blanchard Lion Cubs, Salvation Army of Norman, Moore Public Schools Food Pantry, and many others. For every item donated, Pioneer Library System removed $1 off of the existing library fines on patrons' accounts.

This year, the entire Pioneer Library System gathered approximately 2.4 tons of un-opened food items from charitable patrons.

That weighs as much as a White Rhinoceros from Africa! If you would like more information about this animal, please feel free to explore our Encyclopedia Britannica database here.

Thank you for all of your donations!
